Affordability
Price, price and price. That’s exactly where the Newpowa 100 Watts polycrystalline solar panel shines. With a sub $100 price and a maximum power output of 100 Watts or 5.81 A, this panel packs quite a punch without the +$100 price tag that you usually
see on other panels.
PROS

Probably the best priced 100 Watt 12 Volts Solar Panel your money can buy.

Less than $1 per Watt.

Price comes with a 25 year power output warranty as well!

CONS

There is no easy or convenient way to reach the manufacturer, Newpowa, should you want to.

Newpowa 100 Watts 12 Volts Polycrystalline Solar Panel 100W 12V High Efficiency Module Rv Marine Boat Off Grid

We are not quite sure how Newpowa does it but their panels consistently sell for about 10% to 20% less than panels with comparable capabilities. Though always cheaper than competitors, this panel can’t be called a cheap model either. It still uses the low iron tempered glass and also cells that are encapsulated in an EVA or ethylene, vinyl and acetate composite housing. The manufacturers haven’t compromised on the frame either. The frame is made out of solid aluminum, giving the panel a robust home to sit inside of. The back sheet is made out of surprisingly good materials as well. Newpowa has used a Tedlar-Polyster-Tedlar or TDT sheet in the back sheet. This ensures longevity for the panel.

We guess that Newpowa’s competitive prices are due to the fact that their panels are entirely made in China, unlike competitor products where at least some of the components are made right here in America. The cells used in the solar panels are however imported and not made in China.

Reliability

Over time, Newpowa have been attested for their reliability and consistency with their solar panels, with many users reporting several years of usage with hardly any maintenance, repair or upkeep work performed.

The panel has an IP65 rating that will protect it against environmental particles and also water jets, as long as such jets have low water pressure, like what you see from a garden hose.
The panels come with pre-drilled holes that will allow you to quickly mount them onto RVs, roofs or your boat. You can connect these in series or in a parallel.
Though very cost effective, Renogy panels are known to be very energy efficient thanks to the non-reflective coating on their panels. Because of this feature, Renogy is almost able to match the extreme energy efficiency capable of by only very expensive solar panels that aren’t really cost effective.

Warranty

The company gives you a 25 year warranty on power output which shows that they stand behind their product. While the 25 year old warranty is very assuring, you must bear in mind that Newpowa is a rather new entrant with not a lot of experience behind them. It will remain to be seen if they will competitively exist for 25 years. But then, this is an issue for most manufacturers of solar panels as they are all pretty new in the market, because solar panels as an end consumer product itself is a relatively new concept.

The diodes in this solar panel are pre-installed and the panel ships with pre-attached MC 4 connectors with 3 feet long connecting cables. Depending on your solar setup, this cable length might be woefully short for your needs. If that is the case, it
is better you order extension cables right alongside the solar panel order, so you don’t shortchange yourself when it comes to setup.

Dimensions and Efficiency

The panel has dimensions of 41.8 x 1.2 x 26.6 inches. Though the panel itself is well built, the manufacturer has unfortunately not paid much attention to the junction box. It isn’t IP 65 rated and will not withstand water damage. For $10 more, you will be able to get solar panels that can take even exposure to a low pressure water stream and still work well. Since your solar panels will have to be exposed to the elements to make them work well, it might be an option to purchase solar panels with IP 65 rating, particularly if you live in an area with a lot of rain. To wrap up this Newpowa panel review, we will say that this is pretty much the only panel that gives you 1 Watt of power for less than a dollar! Though the low price comes at the cost of having a panel that isn’t IP 65 rated, it can still be a good starter panel to try out on a low budget, before you move on to bigger and better panels with more confidence and experience!

Summary

We hope this HQST solar panel review let you learn more about what is easily the best suitcase solar panel charger out in the market today.
